What’s the hardest thing about eating breakfast? Eating something that’s good for you! Exercise and eating right are extremely important, but sometimes it’s not that easy to do…or at least we think it isn’t. Check out these protein packed breakfast ideas to help you start your morning right and give you the energy to make more healthy decisions all day long!
Eggs & Avocado
This is probably my favorite thing to eat in the morning to give me energy all day long and it’s so simple to make! Take one avocado and slice it in half along the core. Pop the core out with a knife and add and egg instead! Add one egg to each half and place in the oven for 20 minutes at 400 degrees. When it’s done just add some salt and pepper and you’re ready to go! Eggs are a big and simple way to pack protein into your breakfast. This usually fills me up, but if you’re still hungry, add some whole grain toast with a low-fat spread or jam.
Yes I did say gluten-free pancakes and they’re delicious! If you’re like me and your body loves pancakes but pancakes hate you, try these out this week. The recipe is super simple: the two basic ingredients are bananas and eggs! (gotta love those protein-filled eggs). Mash up one banana with two eggs-try using a blender to get a smoother texture. I also like to add some low fat milk and almond flour (more protein) to get that texture just right. Now add some dark chocolate chips! (more protein!) These rich pancakes can be topped with anything you like. Personally, I love to spread some peanut butter between them for a protein alternative to that sugary syrup. Then add whatever fruit you like; blueberries, strawberries, even more chopped up bananas! This breakfast will fill you up and start your day on the right track!
Yes, back the eggs. They’re just such a great way to pack in that protein at the beginning of the day! Omelets are one of my favorite things to eat in the morning. Why? Because you can make a different one every day! I love recipes that you can change up and be creative with. The best way to make your omelet is to start with 2-3 eggs. Stir with a fork and add a dash of milk. Next, you always have to add some cheese! The fun part is adding your meats and veggies. I love doing turkey and ham for the meat. Just dice it up and throw it in your mix. Then add your veggies. Some good ones to try are spinach, bell peppers, tomatoes, onion and broccoli. Slice them up and add them to the mix. Don’t forget to add a touch of salt and pepper and you’re done!
